I was thinking of a really old song today. Some of the words are “Life is moving faster than it ever has before…” Well, I know that song is really really old…like from the 70’s but it’s more true than ever before. Life really seems to move faster the older I get.
It is nearing the end of May and I am already thinking of all the things I need to do before Christmas…don’t laugh…you know what I mean. Whether it’s painting the house, getting things spruced up for summer or awaiting the arrival of family wedding or even a baby. There’s always the future to think about. Although, through my eyes, I am looking further than tomorrow for my future…which is not the case with the families I live and work with.
For families at My Father’s House, thinking about the future is tomorrow…not next month or in a few months. Their sight is on what will happen tomorrow…will I have a place to live? Will my kids survive this crisis? What can we fix to eat without a camp stove? cooking utensils? or dishes? Will we have to sleep in our car tonight? Can I get a job this week and get back on track? I have heard everyone of these worries many many times.
At My Father’s House, at least they can start planning for a positive future. There is a place for the entire family to stay. They will have a bed, food, clothing and help to regain control of their lives. To find sustainable jobs, affordable housing…while their families are safe and sound. That’s what My Father’s House is all about…everyday!
Come see what a difference you can make in the lives of families! Volunteer to give a child, a mom or a dad new hope for a brighter future…even if that future is just a few weeks away!
